Simon Karlinsky is Professor Emeritus of Russian at the University of California, Berkeley. His books include The Sexual Labyrinth of Nikolai Gogol, Russian Drama from Its Beginnings to the Age of Pushkin, and Marina Tsvetaeva: The Woman, Her World, and Her Poetry.
