I have a book coming out in July that has a verse at its core from the Reconciler Gospel of Thomas. It is free as is the entire text of Reconciler. The verse is 114. It unequivicaly Affirms the special place we have in the eyes of God. It is not washed out Dogma. It is New Wine. Come get a sip and be revived.

I am frustrated and depressed by the insular mentality against gay people by a hardcore of political and religious zealots and bigots with power in Puerto Rico where I reside. Too many government officials in Puerto Rico want to ignore the United States Supreme Court's ruling supporting sexual privacy in the bedroom. They have no understanding of what it means when the highest court in the land rules that sex in the bedroom between two consenting adults -- gay or straight -- is constitutionally legal. These same officials go berserk when the human rights of gay unions come up for consideration in the new Puerto Rico Civil Code. They say that they are against gay unions because they are Christians! I am convinced that Jesus Christ loves gays as much as he does straights. Jesus is not a religious zealot or a bigot. He loves equally all God's Creations. He did create gays as well as straights. His awesome total creations celebrate diversity.

I could never understand why religious evangelists zealots are allowed to lead anti-gay rallies on the steps of the Puerto Rico Capitol Building. Pro-statehood New Progressive Party leaders and government NPP officials are often VIP guests; and even, speakers at these rallies. You would think leaders of the pro-statehood New Progressive Party would know more about human rights and separation of church and state than members of the Popular Democratic Party or the Puerto Rico Independence Party. Maybe, when it comes to practicing the principles of American Democracy, all three parties are essentially the same. Can you imagine members of the United States Congress giving permission to Pat Robertson to hold a rally on the front steps of the United States Capitol Building to denounce gay people and other groups because they are different? Can you imagine members of Congress being invited as VIP guests and speakers at a Pat Robertson's hate-the-gays rally? Why is it allowed to happen in Puerto Rico and but not on the steps of our nation's capitol building?

Long ago I read the truly spiritual book: "Is your God too small." The main message in this book is that when we try to define out God we deny to ourselves all of God's gifts available for us. God is too big to be defined. How can any one mortal person decide who God loves or does not love? God loves all his creations. It was God who created diversity. How arrogant that some men try to make something that appears different to be sinful....

God
"So much depends on our idea of God! Yet no idea of Him, however pure and perfect, is adequate to express Him as he really is. Our idea of God tells us more about ourselves than about Him." -- Thomas Merton, New Seeds of Contemplation

Ask 20 people about their image of God and it's likely you'll come away with 20 different answers. We all have an image of God - as mother, father, lover, creator, judge, rock, salvation. Our images of God can even vary in our own minds - throughout our own lives. Yet there is no image or idea of God that is adequate to express God as God really is.

What is your image of God? When you think about God, what comes to mind? Are all these images valid? Are there some images of God that should be rejected? If no one image can capture God, how do we relate to God?

P.S. I never realized before reading this topic that many excellent web sites exist for Christian GLBTG people. --- Google: Christian GLBTG people.
