Educational Requirements: Masters required in related field, terminal degree preferred.
Position Requirements:
Minimum two years experience working with GLBTA populations in a professional capacity required. Teaching in a post-secondary environment highly desirable. Must have an understanding of how sexual orientation and gender identity intersect with race, class, gender, and nationality and have extensive knowledge of issues relating to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally (GLBTA) communities. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement educational and training programs in a diverse cultural envirornment and to work collaboratively with a wide variety of students, faculty, and staff. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheet, web design, and desktop publishing highly desirable.
Description:
The Director of the Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and Ally Resource Center
(GLBTA) provides leadership in creating a campus climate that is welcoming to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advocacy, curriculum assistance and teaching, conducting trainings, developing needs assessments and evaluations, resource development, support for students and student organizations, and crisis intervention. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for reviewing campus policies to ensure sensitivity to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) issues and for planning and implementing social, cultural and educational initiatives and programs which respond to and support the GLBT community. The Director works in collaboration with Campus Life offices, academic units, other departments, student groups, and off-campus stakeholders. The Director is responsible for hiring and supervising staff, strategic planning, financial planning, development activities, and overseeing operational aspects of the office.
