In the article concerning classical music and composers I found the following paragraph:
---Similarly, the complicated, but apparently unconsummated, relationship of Schumann and Johannes Brahms has also been the subject of speculation. ---
Nothing I've read indicates there was romantic attraction of the glandular kind between Robert Schumann and Brahms. There could well have been an attraction between Brahms and CLARA Schumann. If you read the latest bio of R. Schumann you will find quotes from his diaries of his obsession with the details of his household, including when he sexual intercourse with Clara. Nothing is said by the biographer concering diary entries about same-gender sexual activity.
Robert Schumann's mental disease is sometimes atributed to teriary syphilis. However, he and Clara had many children. Clara and the children lived long lives without the infection their husband and father allegedly could have transmitted.
I think RS's mental disease can not be attributed to the sunday school lessons of the sins of intemperate sexual activity. |

Viola
I thought your comments on Brahms and Schumann were very interesting.
My father studied music in Leipzig at the time when Brahms was still alive and
followed him down the paterstrasse to say he had walked in him foot steps.
My mother was a child prodgidy violinist who lived with her great friend Vera
and Vera's mother knew Clara Schumann intimately.
My love was ballet.
Sincerely

Neither Brahms nor Robert Schumann are Homosexuals. Anything rather than this is totally nonsense. Brahms Wasn't homosexual, but is a classical example for the influence of the oedipus complex, Grossly exhibited by the composer's attraction to Clara Schumann, a woman that showed, at least in his eyes, resembelance to his mother. I have posted a topic about composer who are homosexual, under the name of "Famous homosexual composers. _________________ A sadist is always at the same time a masochist
