The Michelangelo exbibition at the British Museum has an interesting drawing of the fall of Phaeton, as a consequence of which Cycnus turns into a swan.
According to the catalogue, he is a relative, in Dryden's translation of Ovid, a kinsman, in von Einem on Michelangelo, a friend, and in Greuber an intimite friend.
I'm puzzzled why he has escaped the Pantheon. There is no entry here on glbtq.
It gets richer when you look at who the character supposed to be Zeus is. he looks like Ganymede and is riding an eagle. |
