Congratulations to Washington, D. C., where same-sex couples may begin today to apply for marriage licenses. The actual marriages cannot take place until the applications are processed and a three-day waiting period passes. Sometimes a little justice sweetens life.

The Associated Press is reporting that by mid-afternoon more than 100 same-sex couples had arrived to apply for marriage licenses in Washington, D. C. Congratulations and every happiness to all of them and to those who will follow.
