I am putting together a queer culture visuals project for aLAF, next April and for Pride.

The project involves projecting queer images onto the street in Dublin during the festival and during Pride. I will be sourcing work by queer artists, designers and photographers (and images by people who don't necessarily identify as queer but who have a strong queer sensibility) from all over the world. In addition I would like to include images from the queer community in Ireland over the years. My aim is to give an overview of queer culture, showing the links and diversities we all have with each other. I would like the result to be a bombardment of queer images and notions, so that viewers will see our culture is real, global and has been around for a long long time. Also I would hope the project would have the effect of raising awareness of the fact that straight imagery surrounds us all the time but we rarely see queer images outside of queer publications, events and venues.

After showing the project in Dublin I would hope to pass it on to be shown in other cities and make it available to community and to arts organisations.

I would greatly appreciate any help or support you could give this project. In particular if you have any imagery that could be included in it and if you could put a call out through your mailing list for people to contribute. The end result would be a useful resource for the entire community in that it could be shown again anywhere and could, I hope be continually added to.
