Princeton University
Postdoctoral Fellowship in LGBT Studies 2005-2008

Application Deadline: October 6, 2004

Contact Information: http://www.princeton.edu/~sf/lgbt.shtml

The LGBT Postdoctoral Fellowship is sponsored jointly by the Princeton Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts, and Fund for Reunion, Inc., an organization dedicated to improving Princeton University's relationships with its lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to pursue research in any scholarly areas that will make a positive contribution toward public discourse around contemporary LGBT issues. He or she is required to teach one course each semester for the first two years. In the third year, the fellow would teach only one course and devote the second semester to full-time research. The fellow is also encouraged to share his or her research interests with the wider campus community, with the aim of creating a sustained dialogue on issues related to LGBT equality. The fellow must reside in or near Princeton during the academic year. The stipend for 2005 - 2006 will be approximately $60,000. Non-U.S. citizens may apply. Graduate alumni of Princeton are not eligible.

The postdoctoral fellowship is awarded for three years and includes an appointment as lecturer which is subject to annual review. Candidates must have received their Ph.D. degree between January 1, 2002 and October 6, 2004, or expect to have fulfilled all conditions for the degree by June 15, 2005 with the support of a letter of nomination.

Selection is based on scholarly excellence, range and quality of teaching experience, ability to design innovative courses in LGBT studies, and potential contributions to this field. Candidates are encouraged to apply from a range of disciplines, especially new and emerging fields and those involved in transgendered studies. Candidates should select from the list below the host department(s) with which they wish to be affiliated at Princeton, and should note the selected department(s) on their application form. Society of Fellows' guidelines for eligibility, application, and dossier submission apply. (Application <http://www.princeton.edu/%7Esf/application.shtml> Procedures)
