Hi! My name is Cristy. I am a college student who is currently taking a class on social and cultural diversity. I will be giving a group presentation on the gay community. My focus is current diction in the gay community. I was hoping for some assistance in identifying PC terms, un-PC terms, and their definitions. Are there certain terms that are only acceptable to use if one is a member of the gay community? Any terms that are OK for all-around use? Any help would be much appreciated, as I am rather ignorant.

Also, as an aside, I am a mental health counseling student. Is there anything that should be noted in our presentation on how best to do therapy with someone who is gay, bi, transgendered or questioning?

Thank you,
Cristy
