The Program in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Yale University seeks applications for a visiting faculty position to teach Lesbian and Gay Studies. This junior level position, sponsored by the Larry Kramer Initiative for Lesbian and Gay Studies, is full time for two years and may be joint with any division of the University.
Rank will most likely be at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor (in the case of those holding full-time assistant professor positions elsewhere) or Lecturer. The minimum salary will be $45,000 plus benefits. The Ph.D. or the appropriate advanced degree is required at the commencement of this appointment.
The person hired may teach in any area of Lesbian/Gay/Queer Studies: for example, history, sociology or political theory and/or policy issues; scientific, medical, or legal issues; queer theory; lesbian and/or gay culture (literature, film, art history, etc.). Most of the courses taught will be for undergraduates. Requirements include two courses each semester, academic advising, and full participation in the organizational and intellectual life of Lesbian and Gay Studies at Yale. Applicants will be expected to be on campus a minimum of four days a week.
