Surely, one of the most influential "natural philosophers" of history is Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727), who not only accurately described gravity and celestial mechanics -- but as well explained the nature of light and optics to an extraordinary degree, brought us knowledge of the Calculus -- and even figured out how to assay silver so that it met the "Sterling" standard he established for the British Mint.

Especially curious are Newton's enigmatic personal life, his bouts with mental exhaustion (whatever those were) -- and his passionate correspondence with the much younger, and quite handsome, Swiss mathematician, Nicolas Fatio de Duillier.

Nonetheless, I cannot find among the myriad (and well presented) biographies offered on this site one about Isaac Newton. Newton was clearly one of the greatest "thinkers" of human history -- doesn't he deserve mention among these pages??
