I've been cultivating the idea for a new short story. Simplified, it's to be a gay romance set in the aftermath of WWI. But unfortunately, I feel rather out to sea about the era's social views of homosexuality.
Was it openly condemned? Was it kept stifled and silent? In the way of prohibition, was there a blossoming of some type of underground gay culture to speak of? Etcetera?
I want to keep this as realistic as possible, so if anyone knows of any books or articles on the subject, direction to them would be muchly appreciated. :) |

I found that, which concerns homosexuality in the 30s but it might be of some use to gain a general idea. |

You need to get a copy of the book: "Jeb and Dash, Diary of a Gay Life, 1918-1945" edited by Ina Russell, your library may have it or you can get a used copy from Amazon for next to nothing.
This true story tells of gay life in Washington, D.C. in that time period. |
