I was just reading the obituary of Robert Skolrood, who achieved some fame as Oral Roberts's personal lawyer and an anti-gay activist. He was responsible for banning books in public libraries, for drafting the notorious antigay amendment to Colorado's constitution, and the antigay ordinance in Cincinnati. Most of his antigay "victories" were eventually overturned by the Supreme Court or (in the case of Cincinnati) by voters who repealed the ordinance that they originally adopted.
But what interested me was that this man, who is survived by his wife of 52 years and several children, was a Larry Craig-type closeted homosexual:
"In 2002, when he was semi-retired, Mr. Skolrood was arrested on charges of uttering obscenities and making sexual advances toward a male undercover police officer at an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He denied all the charges at a trial before a federal magistrate in Roanoke, Va., but he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and paid a $125 fine."
I also remember so many antigay priests, preachers, and other activists being arrested at adult book stores and other venues.
I don't know what to make of this. Perhaps it validates the claim that the most vicious homophobes are compensating for their homosexual desire. Any thoughts about this phenomenon? _________________ Jay |

The "Larry Craig complex" is a proven phenomena. (However, the current scientific community does not currently acknowledge the fact. It is denied as much as the search for the queer gene.) Low Kinsey-spectrum homophobia also does exist slightly more than high Kinsey-spectrum heterophobia. _________________ remember the riots |

One rule of thumb is that many of the people who are antigay are often dealing with their own issues. It applies to many areas in life and this is no exception.
