I am currently reading a book named Thomas Merton:My Brother. It's the second book about him that I have read. I read an autobiography about Merton, a monk and poet, and I really fell for him. He speaks to today's man and woman though he has been decreased for 40 years. Merton (1915-1968) was in tune with the times he was living in and I can see where he would relate to the sturggles of LGBT rights, in my humble opinion.
Has anybody read any of his books? Love to heare your comments.

I've read a couple of Thomas Merton's books, including 'Seven-Storey Mountain' an autobiography, and 'Waters of Siloe', a history of the Cistercian monastic order in America. I enjoyed his works, they are written in an interesting, informative, sometimes humorous style. He lived for many years as a monk at the Cistercian monastery of Gethsemane in Kentucky, and was in Thailand for a conference on Eastern monasticism when he died. _________________ Tim Carew |

As a Merton starter, I suggest his Journals there are six volumes and they take you from his youth prior to Columbia Univ. to his final trip to the East.
I love his journey. |

I'll do that, Dowl. I'm thinking about getting all the info I can about Merton.
