I am currently reading 'Transgender History' by Susan Stryker. It is an interesting book which I will critique when I finish.

Susan Stryker's fine book 'Transgender History' should be a staple in your home library. It is a definitive history about transgender people and the role they played in fledgling gay liberation movement. The book reveals how trans people were pushed to the margins because a largely white gay male population were more interested in assimilation. Trans gender and gender variant people were just trying to survive.
Transgender History explains the struggles of trangender people in the seventies and eighties just to get the basic needs of employment, housing, and medical care. Transgender people have a very vibrant and rich history that goes back many, many years.
It's rare that I mention a must book for anyone but Susan Stryker's masterpeice is one book which I could not put down.
