Last night I attended the Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony. About 200 of us marched around the block carrying candles to honor those who have died. Later at the center, there were speakers and reps. People from the audience spoke of their experiences and what the day meant to them.
I have amibivalent feelings because while we lost some people, I am encouraged by the progress that has been made. Seeing so many young people in the audience gives me hope for the future. I always come away with the belief that the future will be better.
