The passage was the marriage equality measure by the Washington, D.C. city council did not come as a surprise, but it is still very welcome news. Kudos to the council members who voted for equal rights, and bravo to the mayor, too, for his commitment to signing the bill into law. Let us hope that the congressional review committee will give its approval as well.
