Naguib Mahfouz
(b. 1911)

Nobel Prize-winning Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz has written more than thirty novels. Two of them, Midaq Alley and Sugar Street, include homosexual subplots, which are relatively rare in twentieth-century Egyptian literature.
