James Merrill
(1926-1995)

Poet and novelist James Merrill is significant as a gay writer because of his use of a personal relationship to fuel his poetry. The most famous of Merrill's books are the trilogy in which David Jackson, Merrill's lover, appears as a co-medium using a Ouija board in an exciting foray into the occult.
