Sound

Sarafina: Though I don't mind the '80s references, I find them rather simplistic. It's too easy to write us off as such. We're a song band, and our influences wax and wane with each song. For many, the glam and the guitars is all it takes to make the '80s comparison. Fortunately, many talk about the lyrics and the harmonies, which are two of our trademarks, and our musicianship as well. I think that we can be described as having an '80s-esque sound, but updated with modern beats, themes, and technology.

Influences

Sarafina: Most of my influences were developed before any notion of "queer music" ever existed, and thus they are pretty straight and/or routine (although, REM was a major influence for me in youth, would they count?). Additionally, we've noticed that each band member was influenced in different manners, with very little overlap amongst us. This has proven to be one of our greatest strengths.
