"Her" Erection (1991)

Prinny Alaví

Prinny Alaví was astonished to discover that many women in the 1980s did not know where their clitorises were located and did not believe they experienced clitoral erections. She created this poster and a series of "'Her' Erection" pins and greeting cards to show that "women get erections, too!"

  Prinny Alaví (b. 1962) has been devoted to creating work that empowers women throughout her 28 year career as an artist.

Alaví, an activist, poet, graphic artist, greeting card designer, and entrepreneur, has been exhibited throughout the United States and in France and Germany. In 1993, she founded Lick the Crisis, Inc., a company that produced safer-sex products for women including Rub-her, Dam-her, and Glove-her.
