  Molly Landreth (b. 1978) is a Seattle-based artist who combines her passion for photography and her interest in gender performance in an expanding series of photographs entitled "Embodiment: A Portrait of Queer Life In America," which includes the photograph above.

Landreth, who holds an M.F.A. in photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York, found that in the process of creating this series she discovered how "age, race, gender, sex, and geography intersect to form a . . . diverse range of experiences with a similar center point."
