Grace Moon's "Pulp Fiction" series of large-scale oil paintings was inspired by the covers of lesbian pulp fiction paperbacks published during the 1950s and 1960s.

Moon writes that she "re-cast the cover girls using friends and friends of friends who have enthusiastically dressed up or down to portray real life characters who queer gender along its spectrum."

Moon, who holds an M.F.A. in painting from New York's Pratt Institute, is the founder and editor in chief of Velvetpark, an online magazine devoted to dyke culture, and a former managing editor of ourchart.com.
