Andy Warhol in 1965.

Andy Warhol in 1965.

Actors and Celebrities

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is best remembered as the avatar of Pop Art, which, in his hands, celebrated and subverted modern mass culture. In addition to creating riveting, pop culture-inspired images, Warhol mentored and publicized the work of several young artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.

During the 1960s, Warhol also directed or produced many taboo-breaking experimental films including Blow Job, My Hustler, 13 Most Beautiful Boys, 13 Most Beautiful Girls, and The Imitation of Christ.
