Actors and Celebrities

Film and stage director Lindsay Anderson (1923-1994) helped found the "Free Cinema" movement, a group of British filmmakers whose work focused on the ordinary or the socially marginalized. While he never directed a film as successful as his peer John Schlesinger's Midnight Cowboy (1969), Anderson was an important force in shaping British cinema.
